Welcome to Mrs. Dennis’ Kindergarten Class!

Dear Students and Parents,

I am so excited to let you know that you are going to be in Mrs. Dennis’ Kindergarten Class for the 2019-2020 school year. I want to welcome you to the Orange Pod! I am looking forward to our first day together, August 7th. This is my seventh year teaching at SCES and I can’t wait to meet my new class! During the summer, I enjoy spending time at Lake Cumberland with my family and reading books. I have a 7 month old daughter, Mary Kathryn and I have been married for 5 years. I have three crazy cats at home that are always getting into trouble- you’ll hear ALL about them this school year.
This year is the first year of your educational career and I can’t wait to help you learn!
Kindergarten is a special time in your life and you will learn so much! I am sure you have heard all about how you will learn your ABC’s, learn to read, and do math problems. But I want you to know something – those aren’t the most important things you will learn in Kindergarten. You may hear grown ups talk about those things a lot – and they are important, and we will work hard – but reading and math are not the most important things about Kindergarten. What are the most important things? Friendship, kindness, compassion, sharing, empathy, independence, teamwork, honesty, courage, creativity, adventure, problem solving, and much more. Yes, my dear kindergartener, you will learn to read and do so much this year, and I will be so proud of you!
I look forward to getting to know all of my students and have fun learning and making new friends! I hope that you have a great summer, and I can’t wait to get the year off to a great start in August! Please join me at SCES’s Kindergarten Open House on Thursday, August 1st from 5:30-7:00 p.m. to kick off a great school year.  You may bring your school supplies that night.

Here’s to a wonderful year filled with learning and laughter,
Mrs. Dennis
