Family Youth Service Director - Ms. Vonda Martin
The goal of the Youth Service Center (YSC) is to connect students and families with the resources they need to promote academic achievement, healthy lifestyles, and future success.
The YSC provides:
- Referrals to health & social services.
- Employment counseling, training and placement.
- Summer and part-time job development.
- Drug and alcohol abuse education/counseling.
- Family crisis and mental health counseling.
- Educational Support.
Community Baby Shower
Will be held at the Spencer County Extension Office on 10/9/2014 at 11:00am to 1:00pm.
Grandparents Raising Grandchildren -
An information & support group for grandparents raising their grandchildren or other relatives that are raising school aged children other than their own. Meetings are held at the Spencer County Extension Office from 12:30-2pm every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. The next meeting dates are May 13th and May 27th.
Parenting 101 -
This class is to engage, encourage, and empower parents raising pre-teen and teens. It raises awareness of the issues our teens face each day in this toxic culture. It offers practical strategies for parents raising incredible teens. School year 2014-2015 classes coming soon. Please contact the Youth Service Center if you are interested in participating in this class.
This event is scheduled for August 2nd at Spencer County High School. Please keep an eye on your mailbox this summer for the event flyer. Free school supplies will be given to Spencer County Students.
"Backpack Buddies/Weekend Munchies"
Backpack Buddies are distributed every Friday. They have enough food for 2 meals for Saturday and Sunday. If this program can assist your family please contact the Family Resource Center or Youth Service Center.

Community Action Network-

Spencer County Extension Office
SCEO is celebrating 100 years of Extension. This event will take place on May 8th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. They would love for everyone to join them for this milestone.
The Youth Service Center works with their Advisory Council and encourages involvement from various areas of the community. These include the following:

- Local Businesses
- Human Service Agencies
- School Staff
Meetings are held bi-monthly at the Spencer County Extension Office. Meetings are open to the public. Please call for more details.
