Dear Students and Families,
My name is Mandy Howie and this is my ninth year teaching at SCES. I am originally from North Carolina and my family and I moved to Taylorsville 10 1/2 years ago. In NC, I received an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education (K-6) and later a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. I also am a National Board Certified Teacher (ages 3-8). I have been a teacher in the public school system for 16 years. I taught Kindergarten, First Grade and Third Grade in the past! I love teaching first graders as they learn reading techniques and strategies! It is so fun to watch their knowledge unfold throughout the year!
I have been married to John Howie for 19 years and I have three children, Alyssa (11th grade), J.T. (9th grade), and Alyson (8th grade). My husband teaches technology at Spencer County Middle School and is the girls’ basketball coach. Teaching is my passion and I look forward to traveling this journey with you and your child this year! If you have any questions about me please do not hesitate to ask. I thoroughly enjoy getting to know my students and their families. For the school year, we are an “educational family” and I like to keep our lines of communication open.
