Principal's Message

Mrs. Anderson

I hope this email finds you well!  We have great things happening at SCES!

Friday was SCES Heart Healthy awareness day!  Our P.E. teacher Mrs. Wood worked hard to prepare a very special day for your child!  Not only did students rotate stations during the school day but also had special events at night as well!  Our PTA provided a “read in the dark” night in the library media center and had dinner from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.  Also, we had the Heart Healthy Glow Night from 6:30 to 8:30 following the “read in the dark” event.  We hope you were able to attend and enjoyed this learning time with your child here at school.

Secondly, I need to ask a favor please.  If you are dropping off your child in the morning please follow the lead of the teachers on duty and allow your child to step out of the car upon their directions.  Please do not wait to be able to pull up all the way to the front door as this causes a large back up of traffic.  We greatly appreciate your assistance in this manner.

Next, we want to make you aware of an internet trend called “Momo Challenge”.  Children are hearing of this information on the internet..  We want you to be made aware that this is very dangerous and you will want to take special precautions for your child when he/she is on the internet.  Mrs. Phillips and Mrs. Floyd are discussing internet safety with our students but wanted to make you aware of this new internet problem.  We simply can’t be careful enough.  If your child becomes scared they are welcome to speak to any staff members.  We are encouraging our students to discuss with their families anything they see or hear of that is making them feel fearful.  Your child's safety is our number one priority.

Lastly, it is time to start planning for the 2019-2020 school year!  As always we value the input families give us concerning your child.  Therefore a form was sent home giving you the opportunity to provide information you would like us to consider when placing your child in their homeroom classroom for next year.  The input window is March 1-March 29th.  Please know that teacher requests are no longer accepted.  Any forms listing a teacher will not be considered.  Also, no email communication will be accepted.  Thank you for your understanding.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and stay safe and warm!  Take care!

Mrs. Anderson
