Spencer County Public Schools have made substantial academic gains over the past several years. This success has culminated with our district receiving a DISTINGUISHED rating based on state assessment results for the 2014-2015 school year. That honor places Spencer County among the very elite districts within the state. We are excited about the progress that has taken place within our district, but we continue to look for ways to improve the educational experience for all students. Kindergarten readiness is an area where we feel improvement can be leveraged.
It is a known fact that children arrive at kindergarten with varying skills and abilities. School staff, families, early care and education providers, and community partners must work together to provide environments and developmental experiences that promote growth and learning that will ensure all children enter school eager, excited, and ready to learn. Spencer County School District is committed to the long term academic success of our students and the economic growth of our community. Universal kindergarten readiness is an essential component of this plan as we move forward. In an effort to bring awareness to this need, Spencer County Court is proclaiming the week of April 18th-22nd as Kindergarten Readiness week. Click here to see the official proclamation.
