My name is Ronda Cox, and I am beginning my 24th year of teaching ELA at Spencer County Middle School. I am a graduate of Spencer County High School and have lived in Taylorsville my entire life. I reside here with my husband, Jason, who teaches at Hillview Academy, my daughter, Haylee, who is a Sophomore at Murray State University, and my son, Michael, who is a Junior here at SCHS.
I graduated from the University of Louisville in 1995 with a BA in Communications and worked in Marketing and Public Relations for a while before deciding to pursue my teaching career. In 1999, I graduated with an MAT from Bellarmine University with certification in ELA and Social Studies grades 5-9. I began my teaching career at Spencer County Middle School the year that it was created and have been here ever since.
In 2003, I received my National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification in the area of Early Adolescent English Language Arts and renewed my certification in 2013.
In an effort to address school-wide literacy, I moved to the library media center for six years and hold Library Media Specialist certification from Murray State University. I was the Library Media Specialist for six years before returning to the ELA classroom six years ago.
