I am so excited to begin the 2019-2020 school year with Spencer County Public Schools! This year will be my 6th year in the district and 7th year in education. My office/speech room is located in the TES Library/Media Center -room 32. As a speech-language pathologist/speech therapist I work with students of all ages from all grades. In speech therapy we work on our speech sounds, language skills (both expressive and receptive), fluency, auditory processing, social skills/pragmatics, and most importantly -HAVING FUN! I love my job and working with a variety of students.
I am originally from Elizabethtown, Kentucky, but have lived in Richmond, Kentucky and Knoxville, Tennessee over the past 5 years. I currently live in Louisville -GO CARDS! I received my Bachelor's of Science in Communication Disorders from Eastern Kentucky University in 2011, and shortly after moved to Knoxville to work for a non-profit speech therapy company serving students in the Smoky Mountains. After working for a year in that setting (which I loved), I went back to EKU to complete my Master's of Arts Degree in Special Education: Communication Disorders. I also obtained my Rank 1 Certification while in graduate school. While I do cheer for the Cardinals, I will always be an EKU eternal colonel!
In addition to working full-time at SCPS, I am also a speech-language pathologist for First Steps Early Intervention program in multiple counties throughout Kentucky. I work with children from birth - 3 years old on their language skills, feeding, sensory integration, social skills, eye contact, and communicative attempts. This PRN position allows me to stay knowledgeable and retain my skills with children of all ages.
I am a big music fan and frequently go to concerts and festivals with friends. I also am very close with my family and all of our animals (horses, donkey, basset hounds, etc.) In addition, I enjoy shopping, reading, going to the gym, kayaking, going to church, and traveling with friends. I love the Taylorsville area and how nice and friendly everyone is here!
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to call or e-mail me. I hope we all have a great year here at SCPS!
