Welcome Letter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

My name is Stephanie Sanford, and I will be your child’s 5th grade homeroom teacher for the 2018-2019 school year.  Mr. Patrick Maynard and I will be team teaching, so he will be teaching your child Language Arts (reading and writing), and I will be teaching Math and Social Studies.  All 5th grade teachers will collaborate to teach Science during a special time called WIN/RIT Band time.

Just to let you know a little about myself: I am a graduate of Western Kentucky University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science.  I have received my Master of Arts in Education from Georgetown College and became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2009.  I have been a teacher at Spencer County Elementary for 18 years.

My husband, Brian and I have been married for thirteen years and we have a 10-year-old son, named Riley and a 7-year-old daughter, named Aria. Brian is a United States Army Veteran and works at Baptist Health.

Attached to this letter is the supply list. It is very important that these supplies are brought in by the first day of school, August 8th.  Instructional time will begin right away.  If you have any trouble purchasing these items, please contact our Family Resource Center so they can assist you. Also, our annual Health Fair/Readifest will be on July 28th at the high school from 9-11am.

I am so excited for the upcoming school year to begin.  I will work with you in any way I can to ensure that your child has a productive and successful 5th grade year.  Please plan on attending our Open House on August 6th from 5:30-7.  If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email me at Stephanie.Sanford@Spencer.kyschools.us.  Have a great summer, and I look forward to meeting you soon.

                                                                                       Your child’s 5th grade teacher,

                                                                                        Mrs. Stephanie Sanford
