Dear Family,

As summer is quickly approaching, I would like to take this time to introduce myself.  My name is Sarah White, and I will be your first grade teacher next year.  2019-2020 will be my 15th year teaching.  I have my Master’s Degree in Education and my Rank 1 in Reading Comprehension.  I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, spending time with my family, and playing with my seven-year old daughter, Emmalin.

I am very excited to have you in my class next year!  We will begin our learning journey with an Open House Monday, August 5 from 5:30-7:00.  This will be a time for you to see the classroom, meet me, see your classmates, and drop off your supplies (see back for supply list).  Our first day of school will be Wednesday, August 7.

I believe that each school year can be successful if the doors of communication are open between home and school.  If we work together to encourage good learning behavior, every student can be successful.  I look forward to maintaining communication with each one of you to ensure success for every student in my classroom!

It is very important that some time is given to reading over the summer.  Visit the local library for reading programs and some great books.  Also, try to save some time for practicing math and writing skills learned in kindergarten.

Once again, I am very excited to meet your family at open house.  During this meeting you will receive more information on classroom and school procedures.  If we work together, I know we will have a wonderful year!  Enjoy your summer break and I look forward to
seeing you in August!

Thank you,
Sarah White
