September 18 2020 SCHS Newsletter

 September 18, 2020

Happy Friday, Bear Family! Our schools and athletic facilities are showing signs of life as we ease back into normalcy, and there is also a bit of fall in the air today - and that makes bears happy! We are preparing our school to begin hybrid instruction one week from Monday on September 28th. There will be all sorts of signage to direct traffic and remind students of safe practices.

Letters are going out today to inform everyone of their in person attendance group. Your household will either be in a Monday/Tuesday group (starts 9/28), or a Thursday/Friday (starts 10/01) group. Wednesdays will be used for deep cleaning / sanitation between groups.

Freshman Tour

Freshmen and parents of freshmen: Wednesday, September 23rd,  SCHS will host a Freshmen Tour from 10:30 am until 6:30 pm. Freshmen can come anytime within those hours and walk around the school to find their classes and begin to become familiar with the building. Although this is not a meet the teacher event, various faculty will be available throughout the building to help assist students in finding their classes. Please be sure to wear your mask and practice social distancing throughout the event. We hope to see you there!

Parental Assurance Form

Before your child can resume in person instruction, a parent must fill out the parental assurance form, and complete the described screenings.. If this form is not on file, your child will not be allowed to attend school in person. It is only necessary to fill out the form one time for each child.

Drawing for the John Deere Gator will be September 25th at 7PM.  Please stop by the school office to purchase your raffle tickets.  $20.00 a chance.  Help support SCHS Athletics/Golf with this raffle.  Do not have to be present to win.

Beta Members: Reminds were sent out to join the Google Classroom and about upcoming service opportunities! If you are not receiving the messages please contact Lauren Martin at to get signed

Internet Access

We are making our cafeteria available for students who do not have internet access in their home. This is for short term student use - 2 hour blocks. This would be an opportunity for your student to watch videos, open or upload assignments, etc. This is not a full day option in order to comply with distancing orders and to ensure there are enough spaces for all who need it. The blocks are from 9 - 11 am, and from Noon - 2pm, sign up in the front office with Mr. Phillips or Ms. Noel. You can also call the school at 477-3255.

All Sophomore, Junior and Senior students not yet enrolled with will be receiving an invitation to join and set up your account.  Parchment is an electronic document transfer service provided for all SCHS students free of charge while enrolled at SCHS.  It is the best and official way of sending transcripts to colleges, universities, trade schools and employers.  Please be looking for this invite and set up your account using the link provided in the email.

Meal Pickup

Meal pick-ups will be on Tuesday and Thursday. You may now pick up your child’s meal at any of the 4 schools from 10:00 – 2:00. Meals are now free for all children 18 and under but we are asking that you go to the school website and please sign up so we will know how many to prepare. If you have a transportation issue you may also sign up for home delivery. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at 502-477-3255 and ask for Misty Bailey in the cafeteria.
