NOTICE REGARDING DISTRICT 3 BOARD OF EDUCATION SEAT FILING DEADLINE

Spencer County Schools wishes to inform the public of an important matter regarding the Spencer County Board of Education District 3 seat (Elk Creek District).

Following the November 2024 election, Mr. Aaron Erhardt was elected to serve on the Spencer County Board of Education and officially began his term in January 2025. Mr. Erhardt subsequently resigned from the position in February 2025.

In accordance with Kentucky law, Mr. Jason Phelps was appointed by the Board to fulfill the vacant District 3 seat and was officially sworn in on February 25, 2025.

As a result, the District 3 Board of Education seat will appear on the upcoming ballot for the opportunity to fulfill Mr. Earhart’s original term through December of 2028. Any eligible individual wishing to file as a candidate for the District 3 (Elk Creek) seat must complete and file the required paperwork with the Spencer County Clerk’s Office no later than Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

Candidate filing forms and additional election information may be obtained through the Spencer County Clerk’s Office and/or the Kentucky Secretary of State’s Office - OR you may print the attached forms provided here and return to the Spencer County Clerk’s office in Taylorsville Kentucky on or before June 2.

The deadline to file is June 2, 2026.
