Spencer County Community;
Our area is set for an impactful Winter weather event over the weekend. Please know that all activities for the weekend are cancelled. We will handle the impact of the weather on school for next week each evening. Our goal will be to make a decision for each day on the evening prior to a school day. This event is forecasted to have a heavy snowfall, icing, and prolonged temperatures below freezing. All of that will have a significant impact on operations.
As always, our goal is to ensure that families and our community receive timely and accurate information during events such as this.
Today, we are conducting a comprehensive test of our communication system to ensure that we are ready and that there are no issues. This test will include phone calls, text messages, emails, and app notifications. The same message will also be pushed to any/all Spencer County Schools social media platforms. The goal of our communication test is to verify that our systems are functioning correctly and that your contact information is accurate and up to date.
To help us ensure a seamless communication experience for everyone, we kindly ask that you take a few moments to do the following:
Update Your Information: Whenever you change your phone number or email address, please call your child's school or the district office to update your contact information. We can't reach you if our records aren't accurate!
Keep Your SC Schools App Updated: Please make sure the SC Schools app is installed and regularly UPDATED on your device and that notifications are turned ON. This is one of the fastest ways we will communicate important information.
Let Us Know If You Didn't Receive It: If you did not receive this message as a phone call, text, email, and app notification, please let us know so we can help resolve the issue for you. You can contact Mr. Cameron Chesser: cameron.chesser@spencer.kyschools.us or Ms. Patti Lancaster: patti.lancaster@spencer.kyschools.us. They will be happy to correct any problem!
Be safe, stay warm, and stay healthy.
Best,
Dr. Willie Foster,
Superintendent

Due to this morningโs forecasted winter weather, including a wintry mix and the potential for ice, the timeline for our early morning bus routes presents significant challenges. After careful consideration, Spencer County Schools has opted to err on the side of caution and will be closed today, Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
Today will be Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) Day #2. Tiger Cub Village will remain open.

Take a look at these awesome new displays going up around our schools! Taylorsville Elementary has created beautiful hallway collages featuring smiling faces and special moments that showcase the heart of their school community. These displays remind us every day that our students are the reason we do what we do!
Over at Spencer County High School, school spirit is on full display with a bold new mascot sign AND a banner celebrating an incredible achievement โ being in the Top 15% in the State for test scores! ๐๐ป
From elementary hallways to high school halls, Spencer County Schools is shining bright! These signs and displays represent hard work, pride, and the amazing accomplishments of our students and staff.
Join us in celebrating the GREAT things happening in Spencer County! ๐๐

A few key reminders:
๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ: All students are expected to engage to complete their assigned NTI work. This work is essential to maintaining progress and ensuring continuity in their learning.
๐๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐๐ฏ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐๐๐ฅ๐: If you have questions or need assistance, please donโt hesitate to reach out. You can connect with your childโs teachers via ROOMS, or contact your school directly for support.
๐๐ญ๐๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ง๐๐๐ญ๐๐: Our teachers and staff are here to help and are committed to making this a successful learning experience for all students.
We appreciate your partnership and flexibility as we work to keep our students learning and growing,
We will make a decision for ๐๐ข๐ ๐๐ซ ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ ๐ tomorrow morning.

One Community: Over the next number of days, we embark on a food drive to help our community. Itโs fun, a bit competitive, and highlights the good in our students, their families, and our staff. I want to stress the importance that our students "learn" why helping is such a gift. Science has proven that gratitude has a direct impact on our own happiness. While we collect food and compete for highest number of items, it must be remembered that ultimately, we are extending our gratitude . . .
In a community that never fails to show up and support our schools, teams, kids, etc., Events such as this allow us to pay that forward. We are showing our gratitude in a way that allows our students and staff to understand empathy, and caring can really affect others.
If you didnโt know, each year our district partners with city and county Officials and "Cram the Cruiser" to help provide Holiday Food Baskets to families in Spencer County. The donations from the schools are a vital part of this project! We realize we have already seen the generosity of our community shine through, especially with all of the additional food needs during November, but we also hope that doesn't affect the current donations that are needed. Spencer County always shows up strong and the generosity of our community never ceases to amaze - so please encourage your class, club or team to give!
Many of you may know of families with food needs, they can call the Spencer County Judge Executives Office at 502-477-3205 by Dec. 17th to sign-up.
Best, Willie Foster/Superintendent
