Cub Connection 8-22-25

Dear Spencer County Families,
I am writing to you today with some exciting news regarding significant renovations and construction that will soon be underway at Spencer County Middle School and Spencer County Elementary School campus. This is a project we have been planning for some time, and it will bring much-needed updates to both of our schools.
This week, youโve probably noticed the arrival of construction vehicles, equipment, and a job trailer as site work begins. This marks the start of an extensive, 20-month project that will transform both schools. We know that growth often comes with a few growing pains, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we navigate this process. There will be times when this work will impact our regular routines, especially during arrival and dismissal.
The work will be done in phases and will impact certain areas of the campus at different times. We plan to be in close communication with you through our regular channels as we get more detailed information about those impacts during each phase. The first phase will mainly impact exterior areas.
Just a few highlights of the work that will be completed:
Spencer County Middle School:
Major updates to the mechanical and lighting systems in each classroom
New flooring in the Great Hall / Lobby Area
A new, state-of-the-art multipurpose facility
A full renovation of the existing auditoriumโs seating, lighting, and sound system
Spencer County Elementary School:
Major updates to the mechanical and lighting systems in each classroom
A new roof, guttering, and fascia
A brand new gymnasium
The repurposing of the old gym space into a music/performance space and the addition of classroom space.
These long-overdue updates will ensure our students continue to learn and thrive in a safe and modern environment. We are committed to minimizing disruptions as much as possible while maintaining the highest safety standards for our students and staff.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we begin this important work. We will keep you updated on our progress and any logistical changes throughout the project.
Sincerely,
Dr. Willie Foster
Superintendent, Spencer County Schools

โจ๐พ Our SCES teachers are the BEST! ๐พโจ

Today she hosted Cupcakes with the Coach ๐ง๐ฉโ๐ซ โ a sweet time for grade-level teams to collaborate, share ideas, and focus on student learning. Together, they are finding the best ways to help ALL our Cubs succeed at SCES! ๐ป๐
A huge THANK YOU to Mrs. White and our incredible teachers for making SCES such an amazing place to Love ๐ Learn ๐ Lead ๐ every single day!

๐๐ Ms. Hutchinsโ kindergarteners brought the classic Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly to life by retelling the story to their 4th grade buddies in Ms. Hesterโs class! ๐ถ๐ตโจ The kinders loved sharing their storytelling skills, and the 4th graders were such encouraging listeners ๐๐. What a sweet way to build connections across grade levels! ๐ด๐ฆ๐ฑ

๐จโจ Our 5th graders had a blast in art class with our new art teacher, Ms. Pfeiffer! They got creative with modeling clay to design toppers for their very own food trucks ๐๐๐ฆ Students learned about graphic art elements like lettering, color schemes, and symbols ๐จโ๏ธ๐. They combined all of these skills to create unique names and logos for their trucksโand they turned out AMAZING! ๐๐
So proud of their creativity and big imaginations! ๐ก๐

Only the 10th day of school and our 4th & 5th grade Cubs are already showing what it means to be empowered learners ๐พโจ Theyโre taking charge of their math journey by tracking their own progress ๐โโ and setting goals to keep growing! ๐
We are so proud of their hard work, focus, and determination ๐ช๐ง #SCESCubs #EmpoweredLearners #MathGoals
