Our Office of Educational Technology has been made aware of a hazardous trend circulating on social media platforms, particularly TikTok. Students are being encouraged to insert conductive materials—such as pencils, aluminum foil, or paper clips—into USB and other ports on school-issued Chromebooks. The intent is to create sparks and smoke, often leading to fires. This behavior poses significant health and safety risks. Tampering with electronic devices can cause short circuits, potentially igniting fires. Such actions can render Chromebooks inoperable. We urge all parents and guardians to have immediate conversations with their children about the dangers of participating in this or any similar challenges.

Today we powered up the excitement with our KSA Pep-Rally to cheer on our awesome 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade Cubs as they get ready to crush the Kentucky Summative Assessment! From video game power-ups to sports huddles and board game strategy — our Cubs are geared up, locked in, and ready to WIN. This week, it's all about teamwork, focus, and giving it 110%. The Spencer County Elementary Cubs are off to the races! 🐎🎉 This week our students had a blast learning all about Kentucky Derby traditions — from reading stories 📚 to solving derby-themed math problems ➕🧠! They trotted through fun activities that taught them why Kentucky is such a special place to live 💙🌾🏇 We love being engaged citizens 🇺🇸 by celebrating what makes the Bluegrass State unique!

Our Cubs had a galloping good time this week learning all about the tradition of the Kentucky Derby! 🐎🌹📚 Students participated in Derby parades 🎉, read stories about the Derby 📖, and raced through Derby-themed math facts ➕🧠. 2nd Grade Hits It Out of the Park! ⚾️🚌✨ Our 2nd graders had a blast exploring the Louisville Slugger Museum! They got a behind-the-scenes look at how baseball bats are made—walking through the factory and seeing the process from start to finish! 🪵🔨 These young minds were empowered learners, asking thoughtful questions and discovering real-world career possibilities in action. What an inspiring day of curiosity, connection, and creativity!

Our Garden Club got creative this week! 🎨 Students used their artistic expression to paint beautiful rocks and repurposed recycled cans into adorable plant people! 🌱✨ We love seeing their creativity bloom both in and out of the garden.
