Spencer County Public Schools is proud to present "STAND UP FOR VETERANS PARADE" on Wednesday, November 11, 2026.
We are inviting ALL VETERANS in Spencer County AND our surrounding communities to join us for a special drive-thru parade as our students and staff line the school campuses to honor, celebrate, and THANK YOU for your service to our Country!
PARADE DETAILS:
Wednesday, November 11, 2026
Starting Location: Spencer County High School
Arrival Time: 9:00 - 9:20 am (enter through the side entrance off Highway 44)
Parade Begins: 9:30 am
Veterans are encouraged to decorate their vehicles with patriotic decorations, their branch of service, years of service, or anything that represents their military journey! We also encourage veterans to bring a driver so they can enjoy the celebration and wave to our students along the route!
AND.....THAT'S NOT ALL...... THE HONORING CONTINUES.....
Following the parade, our local AMVETS invites all Veterans and community members to attend a special Veterans Day ceremony a the Veterans Memorial on Main Street at 11:30 AM

On Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2026 SCPS will once again host the Stand Up for Veterans "Drive-Thru" Parade. We will be cheering and honoring our community's military Veterans by going outside, waving flags, holding signs, and valuing on our nation's bravest as they drive through our lot, then head to the other schools and downtown Taylorsville!
Please help us reach out and invite our Veterans to this event!

Kindergarten has busy this week! Today they stepped into the role of empowered learners by making their very own homemade applesauce! From peeling to slicing apples (with child-safe tools), this hands-on project was the perfect way to practice fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Our mini-chefs took full ownership of their learning (and their snack!). ๐

Color Run is this Friday! Please read the reminders below:
1. Permission slips were sent home earlier this week. Please make sure to have these signed and turned in by Thursday.
2. We encourage students to wear white shirts to make the experience even better. Students must wear sunglasses during the color run! We have extra glasses if students forget.
3. We are still in need of some volunteers for this Friday's color run! Please email Brittany if interested in volunteering. You must be on the approved list. Brittany.sauer@spencer.kyschools.us
4. This is an early release day. Elementary releases at 1:40!
After spending the last few weeks diving into the wonderful world of classic nursery rhymes, the kinders of TES put their skills to the test in the Nursery Rhyme Olympics!! Students climbed through Itsy Bitsyโs spider web, helped Humpty Dumpty stay balanced through an obstacle course, became Hey Diddle Diddleโs laughing dog in a game of dog tail tag, and even jumped over the moon! Students celebrated at the end by making an Itsy Bitsy Spider yummy snack!

Our 5th grade students recently hosted an Economic Fair for our 2nd grade students! They put their economic skills into action as they created and managed their products, while our 2nd graders practiced important money skills through hands-on learning.
TES families: 2026-2027 Yearbook Pre-Orders are here! Please purchase online or send cash/check made to TES to secure a yearbook for $25. Please include your child's name, grade and teacher. Prices will go up Thanksgiving week and yearbooks will be delivered in May!

Save the Date for FLIP Night on October 22nd! 2nd and 4th grade students will showcase their learning. Tiger Lair will be open, there is a costume contest, a family craft, and food! We hope to see all of our tigers at this fun family event!

Buddy Reading in 3rd Grade! Mrs. Bryantโs 3rd graders were engaged in buddy reading as they explored their story, Cocoliso! Students worked together while focusing on reading at grade level and strengthening their reading skills.
