stop informational meeting
Spencer County Community,

We want to make you aware that a water main break in the area has led Spencer County High School to cancel after-school activities today. Our team is in constant communication with the City, and we are grateful for their quick response and partnership.

At this time, we do not anticipate any impact on school operations for tomorrow, Wednesday, September 3, 2025. If that changes for any reason, we will notify you immediately.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we work together to keep things running smoothly.

STLP meeting information
Dear Spencer County Families,

I am writing to you today with some exciting news regarding significant renovations and construction that will soon be underway at Spencer County Middle School and Spencer County Elementary School campus. This is a project we have been planning for some time, and it will bring much-needed updates to both of our schools.

This week, youโ€™ve probably noticed the arrival of construction vehicles, equipment, and a job trailer as site work begins. This marks the start of an extensive, 20-month project that will transform both schools. We know that growth often comes with a few growing pains, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we navigate this process. There will be times when this work will impact our regular routines, especially during arrival and dismissal.

The work will be done in phases and will impact certain areas of the campus at different times. We plan to be in close communication with you through our regular channels as we get more detailed information about those impacts during each phase. The first phase will mainly impact exterior areas.

Just a few highlights of the work that will be completed:

Spencer County Middle School:
Major updates to the mechanical and lighting systems in each classroom
New flooring in the Great Hall / Lobby Area
A new, state-of-the-art multipurpose facility
A full renovation of the existing auditoriumโ€™s seating, lighting, and sound system

Spencer County Elementary School:
Major updates to the mechanical and lighting systems in each classroom
A new roof, guttering, and fascia
A brand new gymnasium
The repurposing of the old gym space into a music/performance space and the addition of classroom space.

These long-overdue updates will ensure our students continue to learn and thrive in a safe and modern environment. We are committed to minimizing disruptions as much as possible while maintaining the highest safety standards for our students and staff.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we begin this important work. We will keep you updated on our progress and any logistical changes throughout the project.

Sincerely,
Dr. Willie Foster

IMPORTANT ALERT
Spencer County Community;

As we navigate this young school year, we want to ensure our district communication systems are a point of pride. Your ability to receive timely and accurate information, especially during an emergency, is one of our top priorities.

Today, we are conducting a comprehensive test of our communication systems, which includes phone calls, text messages, emails, and app notifications. This test will help us verify that our systems are working correctly and that your contact information is up to date.

To help us ensure a seamless communication experience for everyone, we kindly ask that you take a few moments to do the following:

Update Your Information: Whenever you change your phone number or email address, please call your child's school or the district office to have your contact information updated. We can't reach you if our records aren't accurate!

Keep Your SC Schools App Updated: Please make sure the SC Schools app is installed and regularly UPDATED on your device and that notifications are turned ON. This is one of the fastest ways we will communicate important information.

Let Us Know If You Didn't Receive It: If you did not receive this message as a phone call, text, email, and app notification, please let us know so we can help resolve the issue for you.

Thank you for your partnership. We are committed to making sure we can connect with every one of our families. We look forward to a fantastic school year!

Sincerely,
Dr. Willie Foster,

As you are aware, we have hired three new full-time drivers to help address capacity challenges and improve on-time arrivals. With that being said, several bus route changes will take effect Monday. These updates will help balance loads, reduce travel times, and keep routes running efficiently. As we continue to grow as a district, we will face some growing pains. Attached is information relating to route changes, an announcement has also been posted in Rooms.

The following routes will have changes โ€” some are major, some are minor: ๐Ÿ, ๐Ÿ‘, ๐Ÿ’, ๐Ÿ“, ๐Ÿ”, ๐Ÿ•, ๐Ÿ—, ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’, ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ•, ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ—, ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”, ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ•, ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ–.

Please verify the stop times and locations for your student. Weโ€™ve made high school and middle school loading as efficient as possibleโ€”both schools now clear the lot in about three minutes. Our elementary departure times depend entirely on how quickly the high school/middle school routes run which is part of the puzzle we are working to solve. With many sports starting earlier, and temperature, our goal is to get students home as quickly as possible.

๐„๐ฅ๐ž๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐š๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ โ€“ Please update your childโ€™s transportation tag with the correct route before Monday morning. Stop times are estimates and will briefly change as we run these new routes. There are very few actual stop locations have changed. Some times may be big adjustments, but theyโ€™ll help close the gap between first and last drop-offs, get students home earlier, and leave a little more room on buses.

We know it will take a few days to settle into the new schedule, but these changes will make a positive difference for all riders.

If you have any questions, please email cameron.chesser@spencer.kyschools.us or send a message to me in Rooms and I will answer throughout the weekend.

Weโ€™re excited for our students to explore their futures!
The Career Exploration Lab gives students a hands-on chance to discover careers they never knew they might love: from engineering to culinary arts, robotics to health sciences, and so much more! Theyโ€™ll get to experiment with real tools, solve creative challenges, and see how their skills can shine in the real world.

Right now, our students are working hard in Lab Basics to get ready for their modules. Theyโ€™ve participated in activities that build teamwork and attention to detail ; skills that are vital for success in the lab (and in life!). Everyone has been super excited to spend time with out class pet (River). A HUGE shout out to Salt River Animal Hospital for taking amazing care of him this summer.

Itโ€™s all about curiosity, creativity, and career readiness ; helping students imagine the possibilities for their future while having a blast!

Spencer County Middle School Shines at the KASA Conference!

Weโ€™re incredibly proud of our SCMS students who gave up part of their summer to showcase the Paxton Patterson Career Exploration Labs at the KASA Conferenceโ€”a statewide event where Kentucky educators gather to learn, lead, and inspire.

Our students represented SCMS with professionalism and pride, sharing the real-world skills they gained this school year. A big thank you to the amazing parents and guardians who helped make this possible by bringing students to the event. Weโ€™re so grateful for your support! A special shoutout to Ms. Gabrie for creating opportunities that push students beyond their comfort zones and into leadership.
