Taking learning to new heights! Students from our Career Exploration Lab had an unforgettable day at UPS โ€œThe Farm,โ€ where they explored the world of drone technologyโ€”learning how drones are remotely flown, maintained, and used in cutting-edge research and development. The best part? They put their skills to the test by flying through an obstacle course!

A huge thank you to the UPS team for taking time out of their day to share their knowledge and provide such an incredible hands-on experience for our students!

This week we are launching our 10th year of One Book One School ! At SCMS, we believe in the power of stories, and we can't wait to embark on this journey together.

๐Ÿ“–For the next 3 weeks, all students and staff will come together and read the same book during reading and WIN classes

โญEach student has received their very own copy of the book along with a custom bookmark

๐Ÿ˜Our book this year is An Elephant in the Garden, a historical fiction novel by Michael Morpurgo

๐Ÿ’™You're invited to read along with us! The Read Along Guide was created for families to experience the book from home. You can access it by scanning the QR code on the bottom of your child's One Book One School bookmark, or click on the link. Every Monday through Thursday from April 7-23, a new chapter recording will be added.

๐Ÿ™ŒA special thank you to the Spencer Co Education Foundation, SCMS Family Resource Center, and proceeds from Scholastic Bookfairs for making this possible!

In honor of Career Day, our Career Exploration students dove into the Space Race while exploring careers in the rocket and aerospace field! Some students designed and launched rockets, while others took on the role of scientistsโ€”making observations, forming predictions, and drawing conclusions from each launch.

We even set a new school record with a launch of approximately 105 yards by 8th grader Easton Rose!

Watching their teamwork and excitement was incredible! Who knowsโ€ฆ we may have some future NASA scientists right here in our classroom!

This morning, while transporting middle school choir students on a field trip, Bus 2072 experienced a blown heater hose that was initially reported as smoke but was later determined to be steam. Out of an abundance of caution, all students were safely evacuated.

The Taylorsville-Spencer County Fire Department responded to the scene along with district officials.

We would like to thank the driver for their quick actions, as well as the students for remaining calm and following instructions during the situation.
All students have safely arrived at their destination.
