๐๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐, ๐๐๐๐. Floodwaters have receded along all bus routes, with only a couple of exceptions where alternate transportation plans have already been communicated to families. All drivers have been instructed to use extra caution and remain alert for potential ice patches due to lingering drainage along roadways.
Additionally, we are closely monitoring the forecast as another round of winter weather is expected tomorrow night into Wednesday morning. Our team will participate in National Weather Service updates this afternoon, evening, and throughout tomorrow to stay informed on potential impacts.
In the meantime, we encourage students, staff, and families to prepare for a possible Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) later this week, should conditions warrant a schedule change.

Incredibly proud of our SCMS students for getting up early on a Saturday morning, traveling over an hour away, and taking a test to compete in the Regional Governorโs Cup competition this morning.

8th graders in Mr. Edmondsonโs and Mrs. Kennedyโs social studies classes presented their Kentucky Projects highlighting Kentuckyโs rich history, economics, and geography. This inquiry project is a yearly favorite. We hope you see why. Well done 8th graders!
We celebrated a lot this week! Students who grew the most on their winter MAP test or got the highest MAP scores got an ice cream sundae (lack of pictures due to photographers hand scooping ice cream ๐คญ Valentines Day dress up spirit days, staff celebrity crush game winner, House meetings, and new student House placement! Work hard, play hard!
Student Leadership Team members delivered Valentine cards to Signature Healthcare today. Cards were made by students & staff from Spencer County Middle School! We hope we made their day as special as they made ours๐
SCMS dance team (plus elementary and high school) has a Dance Showcase this Saturday! All the girls are headed to state in 2 weeks, letโs send them off with a great crowd!
For the first time in SCMS cheer history the middle school squad competed at the UCA national competition in Orlando, Florida. They placed 9th out of 13 in their division. Led by coaches Kim Burch and Kelly Key, this program has shown mazing growth over the last 4 years! Congrats to all the cheerleaders this season for an amazing job well done!

Due to a significant increase in illness affecting both our students and staff, Spencer County Schools will implement Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) Days on February 4th and 5th, 2025.
TigerCub Village will be CLOSED as well.
Students should follow the NTI expectations that have communicated by their teachers and school. Staff will be available during the school day to provide support as needed.

It's school counselor week and we can't wait to celebrate Ms. Dunaway! She's always thinking of others and helping anyone who needs it! Thank you for all you do everyday! The 100th day of school is Thursday, Jan 30th. We are celebrating by having a school wide Bingo game! First 10 winners of each grade level will recieve a PBIS coupon to the Grizzly store!
These girls are State bound! We took home 1st in pom and 2nd in hip hop at regionals today! Now weโve got 3 weeks to prepare for State and weโre ready! ๐๐ป

They did it again! First place in hip hop and pom, best of the junior division, best of pom, and best musicality! So proud of these girls and canโt wait to take on regionals next weekend! ๐๐ป
Our academic team took home 2nd place overall in district Governorโs Cup.
SCMS students had one medal in math, 3 in science, 2 in social studies, 1 in language arts, 1 in arts & humanities, 3 in written composition. And the team took home 1st place ๐ฅ in Future Problem Solving! 13 of our students will be moving on to the regional competition in February!

After assessing bus routes today, we found that while our majority of our roads are in excellent condition, several challenges remain, including low-hanging tree limbs and multiple parked cars in cul-de-sacs and turnarounds. To ensure the safety of our students and drivers, we believe it would be beneficial for drivers to complete their routes after daylight hours. With the expected sunshine tomorrow, we anticipate more melting to occur, further improving turnaround conditions.
We kindly ask that, if possible, keep cul-de-sacs clear of cars to help our buses navigate turnarounds safely.
